A recarga is the fastest way to make sure mom's phone keeps working, that your brother can answer WhatsApp, that the Sunday call actually connects. That is where we are opening next, and Mexico is first in line.

We are launching with the carriers Mexican families actually use: Telcel (the Amigo network most of the country is on), AT&T Mexico and its Unefon prepaid brand, Movistar, and newer low-cost options like Bait. When it opens you will enter the number with the +52 country code, pick the carrier and amount, and the balance will show up on their phone -- usable immediately for calls, messages, data, or an Amigo Sin Límite package.

Amounts will be shown in US dollars before you pay, and the credit will arrive in Mexican pesos. Telcel recharges follow the standard peso denominations ($20, $50, $100, $200 MXN and up), so a small topup covers a few days of WhatsApp and a larger one renews a full package with unlimited social apps.

There will be one fee: $2.99 with Apple Pay or Google Pay at checkout, flat, no matter the amount. No percentage cut, no exchange-rate games on top. Leave your email on this page and we will write to you the day Mexico goes live.

  • Mexican mobile numbers are 10 digits after the +52 country code. If you normally dial 044 or 045 before the number, drop it -- those prefixes were retired in 2019.
  • Telcel packages (Amigo Sin Límite) renew automatically when the balance covers them; a recharge of the package price is usually all it takes.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I be able to pay for a recarga to Mexico from the US?

Mexico is the first country we are opening. Leave your email on this page and we will write to you the day it is live -- that one message, nothing else.

How will I pay for a recarga to Mexico?

You will enter the Mexican number with the +52 country code, pick the carrier (Telcel, AT&T, Movistar, Unefon, or Bait), choose an amount, and pay with a card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. The credit will go directly to the phone.

How fast will a Telcel recharge arrive?

Usually in under a minute. You will only be charged if the recharge actually goes through -- if a carrier has an outage, your payment will never be captured.

How much will it cost to topup a phone in Mexico?

The topup amount plus a $2.99 fee with Apple Pay or Google Pay when it launches. A $20 recarga will cost $22.99 total. There are no percentage markups.

What amounts will be available for a Telcel phone?

Telcel recharges map to the standard peso denominations from about 20 MXN up to 500 MXN. The exact options will appear on the Telcel page once it launches and you enter the number.

Will the credit work for data and WhatsApp?

Yes. Balance can be spent on data directly, and on Telcel it renews Amigo Sin Límite packages that include unlimited WhatsApp, Facebook, and other social apps.

Will I be able to topup a Bait or Unefon number?

Yes -- both are in the launch lineup. Bait runs on the Altán shared network and Unefon on AT&T Mexico; recharges renew their packages the same way.

Will anything be needed on their side?

No. The credit will land on their line automatically. They will typically get a confirmation SMS from their carrier.

Can I refill a US phone today?

Yes. US carrier refills and bill pay are live right now -- it is only the international topups that are still opening.
