Peru has one of the most competitive mobile markets in Latin America -- four national carriers fighting for prepaid customers -- which means good prices and lots of recharge options for the family there. We are launching with Movistar, Claro, Entel, and Bitel, and a recharge will reach a line in about a minute.

When it opens you will enter the number with the +51 country code, pick the carrier, and choose an amount in US dollars. The line will be credited in soles, ready to spend on calls, messages, or the data packs every carrier pushes. Claro also sells dedicated data recharges if data is all the line needs.

Bitel deserves a special mention: it built its network deep into the provinces, so if your family is outside Lima there is a decent chance they are on Bitel -- and yes, it is on the launch list too.

A $2.99 fee with Apple Pay or Google Pay when it launches. A 10-sol recharge and a 100-sol recharge will carry the same flat fee. Leave your email on this page and we will write to you the day Peru goes live.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I be able to pay for a recarga to Peru from the US?

Peru is on our launch list and opens as soon as the carrier connection is ready. Leave your email on this page and we will tell you the day it is live.

How will I pay for a recarga to Peru from the US?

You will enter the Peruvian number with the +51 country code, pick Movistar, Claro, Entel, or Bitel, choose the amount, and pay with a card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.

Which Peruvian carriers will you support?

All four national carriers: Movistar, Claro, Entel, and Bitel.

How fast will the recharge arrive?

Usually in under a minute, with an SMS confirmation from the carrier.

What will it cost?

The recharge amount plus a $2.99 fee with Apple Pay or Google Pay when it launches. No percentage markups.

Will I be able to pay an exact custom amount?

For carriers with open-range recharges (most in Peru), yes -- you will enter any amount between the shown minimum and maximum.

Will the credit work for data packs?

Yes. Balance converts into each carrier's data and social-media packs, and Claro offers data-specific recharges as well.

My family is in the provinces, not Lima. Will it work?

Yes. All four carriers are national, and Bitel in particular has strong rural coverage. The recharge will work the same wherever the phone is.

Can I refill a US phone today?

Yes. US carrier refills and bill pay are live right now -- it is only international topups that are still opening.
